Driver Description
  • Safely transport goods, materials, and personnel to designated locations within Nairobi and other areas as required.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods, meeting all deadlines and ensuring no delays.
  • Follow the designated routes and schedules, taking into account traffic patterns, road conditions, and the needs of the business.

Vehicle Maintenance and Care:

  • Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in good working order and safe for operation.
  • Regularly check vehicle fluids (oil, brakes, and tire pressure), clean the vehicle, and monitor its general condition.
  • Report any vehicle malfunctions or maintenance needs immediately to the fleet management team.
  • Coordinate with the management team for vehicle servicing and ensure all maintenance is up to date to prevent breakdowns.

Goods Handling and Delivery:

  • Assist in the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring proper handling of products to avoid damage.
  • Ensure that goods are properly secured during transportation to prevent spillage or breakage.
  • Verify deliveries by checking items against invoices and delivery notes, ensuring accuracy in delivery and documentation.
  • Manage delivery records, ensuring all relevant documentation is filled out accurately and submitted on time.

 Customer Service:

  • Interact with customers and clients in a professional and courteous manner, providing excellent customer service during deliveries.
  • Address customer inquiries, provide delivery updates, and resolve any delivery-related issues in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that deliveries are made in accordance with customer specifications and any specific instructions.

Compliance with Traffic Laws and Safety Protocols:

  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring safety at all times while driving.
  • Follow all company policies, health and safety guidelines, and road safety protocols to minimize risks and avoid accidents.
  • Observe speed limits, wear seat belts, and practice defensive driving techniques to ensure safety for yourself, passengers, and goods.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Complete all necessary paperwork such as delivery logs, trip reports, fuel records, and any other required documentation.
  • Record any issues encountered during trips (e.g., delays, accidents, or vehicle issues) and report them to the relevant authorities or management.
  • Keep track of fuel usage and maintenance schedules to optimize operational costs and vehicle performance.

Driver KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • At least 3 years of proven experience in driving within an FMCG setup
  • Valid Class BCE driving license
  • Familiarity with Nairobi roads and local traffic regulations
  • Ability to handle delivery-related tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A good level of physical fitness to handle loading and unloading tasks.
