Job Description

Reports to: Senior VM/ Branch Manager,

Gross Salary: 30 -35k

Our client, one of the largest furniture retailers in Kenya, is seeking to hire a Visual Merchandiser to design and create attractive visual displays for our stores with the aim of increasing sales, getting the buyer’s attention and providing an excellent in-store experience. A Visual Merchandiser works alongside the Store Supervisor to coordinate store’s visual displays and maintains maximum product density to achieve the ambiance required by Furniture Palace.

Product knowledge and training
  • Visual Merchandisers are required to learn and remember information regarding the products of Furniture Palace at all times. Should be knowledgeable about the advertisements not only in the newspapers but also in all our billboards, and all our social media platforms.
  • Visual Merchandiser’s should introduce new accessories and train the sales representatives on creative, link and cross selling.
  • Ensure accessories are sold as per the description of the item and as selected by the customer, especially in case of items having the same code and are being sold on “As is Where is” basis
  • Train the sales reps on how to maintain their allocated bay as per the display checklist.
  • Must attend all training sessions to gain Product knowledge.
  • Take corrective measures whenever required (physical changes) and disseminate information as required to the supervisor / staff on the retail floor.
Sales:
  • Monitor and report the fast moving /slow moving accessories and furniture to help the head designer understand the market trends.
  • Understand the clientele of the branch and report to the head designer, to enable selection of furniture/accessories for the branch.
Customer Service:
  • No customer should be left unattended. Help locate a sales representative for an unattended customer in a polite manner.
  • Ensure that everyday interaction with customers and staff portrays a positive image towards the company.
Stock Control:
  • Communicate sold out accessories in their respective branches to the stock personnel.
  • Be responsible to receive the SDN of all accessories/furniture, new or replenished. Report any damaged stock upon arrival.
  • Maintain hoist stock register for accessories/furniture.
Showroom Responsibilities:
  • Create appealing and eye-catching visual displays that lead the customer through the entire store.
  • Assist the branch Manager and Interior Design Manager in brand positioning within the showroom. 
  • Keep abreast with interior design trends and implement new display ideas that promote product aesthetics and functionality.
  • Maintain display as per Furniture Palace merchandizing standards.  
  • Communicate with the marketing team to establish strategies and design concepts for seasonal product launches and displays.
  • Constantly reposition the furniture in the showroom to enhance sales and create new looks and concepts. Ensure slow moving products as well as advertised lines are displayed prominently. 
  • Be mindful of the new arrivals in the company and keep the showroom well stocked.
  • Verify that all items are tagged, the tags are visible, well positioned and are 100% accurate.
  • Make 4-5 floor walks to supervise bays allocated to sales reps and to ensure showroom decorum. 
  • Remove all accessories displayed on the product when it is being removed from the showroom. Example cushions on recliners or cushions on beds and inside the bed drawer4
  • Liaise with the floor technician to correct any damages or mal functionality of the existing displayed products.
  • Ensure the sales reps are maintaining visual merchandising standards checklist in their bays.
  • Ensure that the walls of the showroom are kept free of soil marks and nail marks, once the wall hanging/ wall art has been moved.
  • Check and advise the time and manpower required for their day-to-day operations and inform the branch manager in advance for planning purposes. 
  • Work with the cleaning company’s (Metro) supervisor regarding showroom cleanliness. Report to the supervisor and branch manager regarding the cleanliness and upkeep of the showroom whenever necessary.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required relevant to their role as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Diploma in Interior design, fashion design, visual art, creative art design or related. A bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage

Gross Salary: 30 – 35k
