Production Manager Description
Mr Rambhai came to Kenya in the early 1940s from the Gujarat region of India. He started a small hardware store in downtown Nairobi in 1948 and that was the humble beginnings of what is now the Ramco Group. His 3 sons, Kirit, Mahendra and Chandrakant joined the family business after their studies and based on these strong family ties, the group built a solid.
Production Manager
We are looking for a dedicated and technically strong Production Manager with deep expertise in flexographic and gravure printing processes. The ideal candidate will be systems- and process-driven, capable of implementing policies, SOPs, and performance systems to optimize operations. A natural leader, they will foster a culture of accountability, cleanliness, and safety, ensuring the highest standards of operational excellence and compliance.
Production Manager Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily production operations across printing, lamination, slitting, and pouching, with a hands-on approach.
- Ensure consistent product quality through technical excellence in flexo and gravure printing.
- Develop, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production systems.
- Drive cleanliness, hygiene, and health & safety protocols, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and manage KPIs such as OEE, waste levels, downtime, and productivity; take swift corrective actions.
- Build and sustain a culture of discipline, responsibility, and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and HR to achieve business goals.
- Coach and mentor supervisors and operators, enhancing team skills and accountability.
- Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and process-related issues.
- Plan and manage manpower, production scheduling, and resource allocation for maximum efficiency.
Production Manager Required Qualifications & Skills
- 10+ years of experience in a flexible packaging production environment.
- Proven technical expertise in flexographic and gravure printing is mandatory.
- Deep understanding of equipment, inks, substrates, and processes in flexible packaging.
- Strong track record of building and sustaining clean and safe shop floor environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, people management, and leadership capabilities.
- Highly organized with a process-first mindset; experience in implementing lean manufacturing, or similar methodologies is a plus.
- Proficient in using production monitoring tools, reporting systems, and ERP platforms.
- Strong communication skills in English; local language proficiency is a bonus.
- Qualification in Engineering, Printing Technology, or Industrial Management is preferred.
