The Chief Investment Officer will be responsible for setting and executing Nabo Capital’s investment strategy across all asset classes. This role requires a seasoned investment professional with deep analytical skills, strong leadership abilities, and a track record of consistently delivering superior risk-adjusted returns. The CIO will oversee investment research, portfolio management, and risk governance, ensuring alignment with client mandates and Nabo Capital’s long-term vision.
Chief Investment Officer Key Duties/ Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership – Develop and implement Nabo’s overarching investment philosophy and strategy to meet performance targets and client objectives.
- Portfolio Management –Â Oversee the construction and management of multi-asset portfolios, ensuring optimal allocation in line with market outlooks and risk parameters.
- Research Oversight –Â Guide in-depth market, sector, and company analysis to identify investment opportunities and manage downside risks.
- Team Leadership –Â Lead and mentor a high-performing investment team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Performance Monitoring – Review and analyse performance across portfolios, ensuring transparency, consistency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Client Engagement – Represent Nabo Capital in high-level client meetings, investor briefings, and stakeholder forums.
- Innovation – Drive the development of new investment products and strategies to enhance client value and firm competitiveness.
- Governance – Ensure robust investment governance, ethical conduct, and compliance with internal policies and external regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Investment, actuarial science or related field.
- Master’s degree in related fields.
- CFA Charter holder required; additional professional certifications are an added advantage.
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience in investment management, with at least 8 years in a Senior investment leadership role.
- Proven success in delivering consistent investment outperformance in African and global markets.
- Strong understanding of asset management, portfolio construction, financial markets, and macroeconomic drivers.
- Experience in managing diverse investment products, including equities, fixed income, private markets, and alternatives.
- Extremely strong business acumen.
