Finance Officer

Position Summary:
- This is a full-time position, and we are seeking a professional with significant experience setting up financial systems, particularly for organizations transitioning from fiscal hosting.
- The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in programmatic budgeting and grants administration to support business development and donor compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Strengthen Financial Systems and Procedures
- Set up an efficient accounting system (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Develop a comprehensive Finance Manual and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurately documented and recorded according to organizational policies, international accounting standards, and local legal requirements.
- Train other relevant staff on how to use the accounting manual and SoPs.
- Budgeting and Donor Financial Reporting
- Collaborate with program and fundraising teams to develop program and organisational budgets.
- Prepare timely, accurate donor financial reports per contractual obligations and donor requirements.
- Monitor programme expenditure against approved budgets, ensuring the appropriate allocation and utilisation of donor funds.
- Support the processing and closure of donor contracts, ensuring compliance with
- internal financial and grant management procedures.
- Liaise with programme teams and the fiscal host to ensure correct coding, documentation, and classification of donor-funded activities.
- Day-to-Day Financial Operations
- Coordinate with the current fiscal host to ensure accurate expense tracking, timely account reconciliations, and efficient payment processing.
- Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, including expenditure projections, budget versus actual analysis, and variance reports.
- Participate in Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings, providing updates on financial performance, risks, and administrative developments.
- Re-Granting and Partner Financial Oversight
- Provide financial oversight of re-granting processes in collaboration with the Head of Programs and Partnerships.
- Conduct due diligence, financial risk assessments, and capacity appraisals for prospective sub-grantee partners.
- Review financial reports that partners submit and provide recommendations for disbursements and financial compliance.
- Monitor and review audited financial statements of programme partners, and ensure adherence to contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Program Management
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of assigned programs in alignment with approved Program proposals, budgets, and action plans.
- Develop detailed implementation plans, define outcomes, and ensure effective delivery through coordination with project teams/ consultants, the strategy and communication and finance team.
- Collaborate closely with partner organizations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, impactful interventions.
- Provide ongoing technical support to partners, including capacity strengthening, and coordinate or arrange for external expertise where needed.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, including timely submission of high-quality narrative and financial reports, in line with donor agreements, ACHGJC policies, and institutional funding procedures.
- Undertake or commission research and analysis to inform program design or as part of implementation and support advocacy priorities per outlined program outcomes.
- Facilitate knowledge management and learning, including documentation and sharing of best practices, lessons learned, and innovations with and among partners.
- Design and implement learning and capacity development opportunities for partners and grantees to strengthen program impact and sustainability.
- Contribute to the development of communication materials such as presentations, success stories, case studies, fact sheets, and visual assets to support internal and external engagement and dissemination of project impact.

- Align program objectives with the organization’s broader mission and strategic priorities.
- Support leadership in refining the organization’s strategic approach through data and insights from program implementation.
- Manage and coordinate multiple interrelated projects within the organization, ensuring consistency, integration, and synergy.
- Establish frameworks and tools for efficient project tracking and communication across teams and projects/ programs.
- Resource and Stakeholder Management
- Oversee program budgets, timelines, and human resources to optimize impact and ensure accountability.
- Manage consultants, grantees, or implementing partners as needed to deliver program components.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams, donors, civil society organizations, government partners, and communities.
- Represent the organization and respective program/s at external events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with partners on the progress of project activities and

- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
- Develop and oversee MEL frameworks to track performance indicators, measure impact, and inform adaptive program management – focus on feminist DMEL strategies.

- Risk Management
- Identify potential risks to the success of the program and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant donor requirements and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, Gender Studies, Public Health Economics, Public Policy, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, ideally in gender justice, economic empowerment, or related areas.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and manage complex programs in cross-functional environments.
- Strong knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methods and tools.
- Experience working with data-driven approaches to social impact and advocacy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.

Communications Officer

- Strategy and Brand Communication
- Support the implementation of ACHSGJ’s communications strategy in alignment with organisational priorities.
- Ensure clarity, consistency, and resonance in all external communications.
- Help maintain and evolve the organisation’s visual and narrative identity across print and digital platforms.
- Craft and adapt key messages for different audiences including policymakers, donors, partners, and communities.
- Content Development and Digital Storytelling
- Develop compelling content for a range of platforms—including website, social media, newsletters, and campaign briefs.
- Produce short stories, human-interest profiles, case studies, blog posts, and audio-visual content in partnership with program teams.
- Collaborate with community members, program partners, and young people to co-create communications materials rooted in dignity and agency.
- Digital Platforms and Social Media
- Manage the day-to-day scheduling and content posting across ACHSGJ’s social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook.).
- Monitor engagement, trends, and audience analytics to improve performance and reach.
- Curate and maintain youth- and community-led digital spaces, supporting safe, inclusive dialogue.
- Media and Advocacy Support
- Assist in drafting press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and reactive statements.
- Support relationship-building with media houses, journalists, editors, and content creators to elevate the visibility of key issues.
- Track news cycles and identify media opportunities to position ACHSGJ as a thought leader on health and gender justice.
- Website and Visual Communication
- Maintain and update the ACHSGJ website regularly with new content, resources, and announcements.
- Work with graphic designers and technical consultants on the design and layout of communication products.
- Ensure accessibility and inclusive design principles are upheld in all visual outputs.
- Internal Coordination
- Liaise with program and research teams to gather content, success stories, and key learnings.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- Experience managing organisational social media platforms and digital campaigns.
- Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, or social media analytics platforms.
