It also has over 250 organizations that have endorsed the Interfaith Declaration referenced as evidence of support by faiths organisations for family health and wellbeing. The Network promotes tolerance and respect of diverse faiths and values.
- The Advocacy Manager will lead external advocacy efforts, developing positive relationships with external stakeholders, including intergovernmental, governmental, and faith organizations, policymakers, and donors. They will represent the Network on national and international platforms and amplify the voices of Faith to Action Network’s 140 members in over 24 countries.
- The Advocacy Manager also collaborates with the Programs Unit and Communications Team to align advocacy and communication strategies, build member capacity, and promote Faith to Action Network’s vision and mission. The role is responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s advocacy strategies to raise the profile of Faith to Action Network and its members. The role also engages diverse stakeholders, influences policy, and positions the Network as a thought leader.

Roles and responsibilities
- Advocacy Strategy and Planning
- Develop and maintain an advocacy strategy for Faith to Action Network, including organization-wide processes to define advocacy priorities for policy change at regional and global levels.
- Define key advocacy opportunities and targets at national, regional, and global levels, ensuring a strong power analysis to inform the advocacy strategy.
- Provide strategic direction for Faith to Action Network’s advocacy, campaigns, and governance work, ensuring advocacy is an integral part of the Network’s Theory of Change.
- Identify internal and external influencing opportunities that align with Faith to Action Network’s mission and liaise with key stakeholders, including intergovernmental organizations (e.g., SADC, ECOWAS, EAC, AU) and UN agencies, to ensure the Network remains informed and responsive to advocacy opportunities.
- Collaborate with program teams to integrate advocacy and campaigns into holistic program design, planning, and implementation, ensuring evidence and best practices generated by Faith to Action Network’s programs inform advocacy work.
- Support regional advocacy initiatives by providing technical assistance to Faith to Action Network members and partners.
- Facilitate member participation in regional platforms, amplifying their voices and strengthening their influence.
- Advocacy and Campaigns
- Develop and nurture relationships with key advocacy coordination groups within Faith to Action Network and among its partners to strengthen alignment with global advocacy and campaign strategies.
- Ensure Faith to Action Network’s advocacy work is informed by global advocacy strategies and regional priorities while remaining responsive to emerging opportunities.
- Produce high-quality advocacy products, including research reports, policy briefs, case studies, and campaign materials, to inform and advance advocacy efforts.
- Lobby decision-makers and influencers at high levels to promote Faith to Action Network’s advocacy messages and priorities.
- Manage the implementation of advocacy campaigns, working closely with program teams to devise and execute effective campaign tactics and regularly review their impact.
- Collaborate with the Communications Team to increase visibility of Faith to Action Network’s work across continents.
- Advocacy Strategy Impact assessment
- Establish monitoring and evaluation processes to assess the implementation and impact of advocacy and campaign work.
- Ensure that Faith to Action Network’s key performance indicators and standards for advocacy and campaigns are met.
- Promote evidence-based learning by documenting lessons learned, effectively disseminating findings, and incorporating them to improve advocacy and campaign delivery.
- Coordination and Networking
- Monitor and pursue speaking opportunities at global and regional events to promote Faith to Action Network’s thematic priorities and establish its thought leadership.
- Backstop the CEO and Deputy CEO in their participation in global and regional coalition meetings, campaigns, and events.
- Build the capacity of Faith to Action Network’s members and partners in advocacy, ensuring they can effectively engage in policy processes at local, regional, and global levels.
- Maintain direct communication with officials and decision-makers within these regional bodies to influence policy processes.
- Develop shared advocacy messages and initiatives with other organizations active in these regions, leveraging joint efforts to strengthen Faith to Action Network’s impact.
- Event Coordination and Visibility
- Support the planning and coordination of advocacy campaigns, meetings, and events targeting regional and global platforms.
- Collaborate with the Communications Team to highlight advocacy successes within these platforms and raise awareness about policy wins.
- Resource Mobilization and Fundraising
- Identify funding opportunities related to advocacy and engagement within existing and new stakeholders collaborating with the Resource Mobilization Team to secure resources.
- Participate in develop funding proposals and reports showcasing advocacy achievements in these regions.
Academic Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in social sciences, development studies, project management or related field.

- Proven experience in developing and implementing advocacy strategies at local, regional, and global levels.
- At least 8 years of professional experience coordinating advocacy interventions across multiple countries.
- Demonstrable expertise in engaging with diverse stakeholders, including faith-based organizations, policymakers, and donors.
- Experience writing and publishing advocacy materials such as policy briefs, case studies, Op-Eds, and blogs.
- Strong track record in resource mobilization and donor relations.
- Experience in managing advocacy campaigns, producing impactful communication materials, and securing funding for advocacy initiatives.
- Strong writing, reporting, and public speaking skills.
- Strong writing and editorial skills in English, preferably also in French.
- Proven and demonstrable experience in high level writing, documentation and information packaging.
