We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all accounting transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with Kenyan tax and statutory regulations. The successful applicant should possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team. Prior experience in a similar role and a solid understanding of accounting standards and practices are essential.


Accountant DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all accounting transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Prepare budget forecasts and financial reports (balance sheets, profit/loss statements, etc.).
  • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
  • Reconcile bank statements, petty cash, and other financial records.
  • Ensure timely processing of payments and statutory deductions (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, etc.).
  • Prepare and submit tax returns and ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
  • Maintain and update accounting ledgers, journals, and other financial records.
  • Audit financial transactions and documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Publish financial statements in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial data and perform regular database backups.
  • Communicate effectively with management, auditors, and external stakeholders.
  • Review and recommend improvements to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.

Accountant KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field from a recognized institution
  • Professional Qualifications: CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent certification
  • Experience: At least 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a similar role
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and accounting software (e.g., ZOHO, ZERO, QuickBooks)
  • Knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and statutory requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience in a construction site office or project administration role.
  • Understanding of basic procurement and inventory processes.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of local labor laws and site compliance requirements.
