Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking to hire a Trade Marketing Executive. The trade Marketing Executive will be responsible to devise and implement trade marketing strategies that drive sales and brand awareness at the retail level. This role involves collaboration with sales, marketing, and product teams to ensure effective execution of promotional activities and alignment with overall business objectives.
Competencies for the position
- Understanding of the Kenyan market, consumer behavior, and regional preferences for biscuits and snacks.
- Ability to track and interpret local consumer trends (e.g., health-conscious eating, preferences for certain biscuit types) and adapt marketing strategies accordingly.
- Monitoring competitors’ activities and performance to identify market opportunities and threats.
- Ability to define and communicate the brand’s unique value proposition in a competitive marketplace.
- Developing strategies to position the brand effectively across various channels, from retail outlets to online platforms.
- Competency in setting and adjusting pricing strategies based on market conditions, cost analysis, and competitor pricing.
- Expertise in developing strategies for both modern trade (supermarkets, hypermarkets) and traditional trade (retailers, kiosks).
- Managing in-store promotions, product displays, and point-of-sale (POS) materials to drive sales and brand visibility.
- Planning and executing promotional campaigns (e.g., discounts, giveaways) to encourage trial, repeat purchase, and brand loyalty.
- Effective collaboration with distributors to ensure products are available, visible, and competitively priced at retail outlets.
- Partnering with the sales team to align marketing strategies with sales goals, ensuring growth in key accounts and retail outlets.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers (distributors, retailers) to improve brand presence and sales.
- Ability to negotiate promotional deals, shelf space, and pricing with key accounts.
- Proficiency in analyzing sales data, market share reports, and consumer feedback to measure trade marketing effectiveness.
- Conducting and interpreting market research to inform product development, pricing strategies, and promotional campaigns.
- Setting clear performance metrics (e.g., sales growth, market penetration) and using data to optimize trade marketing initiatives.
- Working closely with product development, marketing, and sales teams to ensure alignment on trade marketing strategies.
- Ensuring that the supply chain is aligned with trade marketing efforts, such as timely product availability and distribution.
- Providing training and support to sales teams on trade marketing strategies, new product launches, and promotional activities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal teams, retailers, and distributors.
- Ability to create and deliver persuasive presentations to key stakeholders, including retail clients and senior management.
- Understanding and respect for the diverse cultures and local languages in Kenya to effectively communicate trade marketing strategies in different regions.
- Leading the development and execution of trade marketing campaigns, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with desired outcomes.
- Ability to address challenges quickly, such as supply chain disruptions or changes in consumer behavior.
- Understanding of the growing role of digital marketing in the Kenyan market, including e-commerce, social media, and digital advertising.
- Developing strategies for online platforms (e.g., Jumia, Kilimall) to reach new customers and drive online sales.
- Ability to adapt strategies to changing market conditions and introduce innovative trade marketing tactics.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing market dynamics, consumer preferences, and business challenges in Kenya’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Marketing, Business Administration or any other related field
- Must have worked in an FMCG manufacturing industry for more than 3 Years.
- Proven experience in trade marketing or brand management within a consumer goods or retail environment.
