The ideal candidate will ensure the provision of a safe, reliable, and efficient bus service for students, while also developing strategies to optimize performance, cost-efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Transport Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Manage bus schedules, driver assignments, and dispatch to ensure safe and timely student transportation.
- Monitor and control the transportation budget for efficient use of resources and alignment with institutional goals.
- Supervise vehicle upkeep through regular inspections and maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
- Recruit, train, and appraise drivers and support staff while promoting a safe and accountable work culture.
- Develop and update transport policies, routes, and maintenance protocols in line with legal and safety requirements.
- Maintain detailed records on operations, personnel, and expenses, and prepare audit and mileage reports.
- Ensure adherence to NTSA, DOT, and PSV regulations, addressing any issues to maintain legal compliance.
- Lead long-term transport planning and manage grant applications and related compliance documentation.
Transport Manager Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fleet Management, Logistics, Transport Management, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license with a minimum of Class ABCE and NTSA PSV certification.
- At least 5 years of experience in the transportation industry, preferably within an educational or fleet-intensive environment.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, vehicle maintenance practices, and safety standards related to student transportation.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel and Word, and able to prepare and present professional reports.
