Job Description 

BasiGo is looking for a seasoned global senior accounting manager to support the financial controller with the financial accounting and reporting of BasiGo’s international subsidiaries.  Reporting to the Financial Controller, he or she will be responsible for providing oversight of international financial operations and supporting the Accounting teams with the development and execution of internal control systems and technology designed to support BasiGo’s accelerated growth.  

What You Will Do:

Accounting and Systems

  • Developing accounting policies and processes that will guarantee the processing of transactions in line with best practices and support operations.
  • Working closely with the financial controller, ensure the accounting teams have access to industry-standard systems and tools including the ERP. 
  • Working closely with the finance and accounting teams, manage the monthly accounting close process for all subsidiaries (entities) in the group, and performing detailed reviews of team member work papers, reconciliations, and monthly close schedules to validate correctness, accuracy, and completeness. Ensure timely completion of the month-end close process and ensure finance teams prepare all the relevant schedules and reconciliations of all general ledger accounts and manage monthly departmental accounting close meetings.
  • Working with country finance managers, develop processes that will ensure real-time posting of accounting transactions to make information readily available for decision-making. 
  • Managing chart of accounts and ensuring our financials comply with international accounting standards reporting standards (including IFRS and GAAP) and investor requirements. 
  • Enforce TP policies among group companies, working with country finance managers to compute monthly intercompany charge-backs and ensure inter-company balances are reconciled monthly. 
  • Review payroll computation from the Finance Managers and ensure that payroll journals are correctly posted in the system.
  • Ensure country finance teams follow a standardized and well-structured record-keeping process across the group to ensure all transaction documents are well safeguarded.
  • Support in preparation of consolidated financial statements including, trial balance, balance sheet, cash-flow statement, and P&L.
  • Review and approve payments and other transactions such as JE’s and purchase orders.

Audit & Compliance

  • Working closely with the country finance managers, coordinate annual audits across all entities in the group. This will include preparation of audit files and responding to audit queries. 
  • Coordinate and manage routine tax audits from time to time to ensure the organization is not exposed to inherent tax risks and liabilities. 
  • Ensure that the control deficiencies identified by the external auditors in their Management Letter Comments for the year-end audit exercise are addressed.
  • Support the financial controller in ensuring the BasiGo group remains fully compliant with all investor covenants. This will entail keeping track of key ratios and designing and implementing certain key processes and controls required by investors.
  • Lead annual and quarterly tax returns filings and other relevant information requests due to institutional bodies.
  • Support in responding to due diligence requests from investors and other stakeholders.

Team Development

  • Identify, develop, coach, and mentor accounting team members for future advancement.
  • Design processes that foster team collaboration and shared learning

Our ideal candidate would have:

Education & Experience:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other business-related fields
  • Certified accountant (CPA or ACCA
  • Minimum of 7 years experience working in a busy accounting environment, financial operations, managerial accounting, manufacturing, Big 4 audit firm, or a related finance field.
  • Experience in technical IFRS, and statutory accounting; U.S. GAAP knowledge or experience is necessary.
  • Experience processing and reviewing accounting transactions and posting.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets,  databases, and working knowledge of major ERP systems is required. 
  • Experience managing group accounts and audit operations
  • Subject matter expert in local tax laws, regulations, and compliance in a variety of areas including PAYE, CIT, VAT, Withholding, Excise Tax, Expat Taxes, and acceptable schemes.
  • Experience working with high-performing cross-cultural accounting teams and a successful track record with talent management and development
