Job Description
Ampersand is looking for a competent and reliable Civil Engineer to join the Construction department to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, timely and safe construction projects.
Ampersand has recently partnered with a major petrol retailer that will be providing locations for Ampersand's charging infrastructure in and around Nairobi. The project will expand the Ampersand charging network over 15+ sites within a short timeframe.
The Civil Engineer will lead all technical execution of the projects by :
- Ensuring the compliance of the construction with design and all other regulations
- Coordinating all the site works with the contractors and partners
- Setting and implementing quality control procedures during construction
- Enforcing Health and safety construction guidelines, among others.
Responsibilities
- Provide project management to remove blockers, maintain accountability from all partners and deliver the project's goals, on time, on budget and safely.
- Project scheduling and planning.
- Regular reporting to keep stakeholders informed, up to date and able to escalate where necessary.
- Interpret and ensure the compliance of the drawings and site construction(setting out, surveys).
- Provide technical guidance to contractors during the execution to enforce quality workmanship.
- Prepare the required bills of quantities and ensure the time delivery of required materials and equipment on site.
- Produce construction shop drawings required for both designers and contractors.
- Review the design drawings from the designers and advice in case there might be an issue.
- Assist in permitting process.
- Apply and enforce quality control and quality assurance procedures on site.
- Inspect the supplied materials and confirm the compliance on quality before use
- Enforce HSE standards on a construction site.
- Prepare site reports and other paperwork required.
- Oversee all the civil maintenance at all ampersand operating facilities.
Minimum requirements
We are seeking qualified and motivated personnel with a deep knowledge and experience in the construction field. You are encouraged to apply if you meet the following:
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in the construction industry
- 2-3 years of experience as a site engineer
- Degree in civil engineering/structural engineering/Water & Environmental Engineering
- Registered in Institution of Kenya Engineers
- Deep knowledge on complex construction drawings interpretation
- Basic knowledge of cad softwares such as Autocad, Revit, Archcad,..
- Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices, including Microsoft Office.
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Managerial and Problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work over the weekends or on holidays whenever requested
