About the role:

We are looking for awesome folks to join our dynamic Dispatch team to be a hERO (Human, Emergency, Response, Operator)! Reporting to the Dispatch Lead, you will be ensuring that we keep to our mission and vision, and ensure that we can save lives within the shortest amount of time possible.

We have certain tools that we use to ensure we make the best of our impact:

  • Flare Dispatch Platform to ensure we can be able to locate the closest and most relevant ambulance to help a customer in need.
  • Internal communication tools like Humanity, for shifts, Slack, for communication and key programs to ensure you are best supported at work.

This is what you will do: 

  • Join our dedicated team of Emergency Response Operators (hERO) committed to providing efficient emergency assistance.
  • Assess emergency situations promptly and take appropriate actions to ensure effective response.
  • Facilitate clear communication between callers and first responders, ensuring accurate information exchange.
  • Provide essential medical guidance to callers and patients until professional help arrives.
  • Utilize technology to track first-response vehicles and optimize their deployment.
  • Coordinate patient admissions to hospitals, keeping them informed about patient status and bed availability.
  • Maintain accurate records of emergency calls and interventions using the Flare platform.
  • Analyze monthly data to identify trends and suggest improvements for enhanced performance.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a dynamic dispatch or call centre environment.
  • Proven ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional talent for active listening.
  • Skilled multitasker with the ability to stay focused amidst various responsibilities.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Proficient in computer usage.
  • Proficient touch typist (speed testing may be required).

Bonus points if:

  • Experience in emergency medicine (such as paramedic, nurse, or doctor), aeromedical evacuations, critical care/ICU nursing, mental health, or palliative care.
  • Experience in firefighting or security response.
  • Knowledge of aeromedical evacuations and coordination.
  • Active certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
