  • Job Description

    Job Purpose :

    • To drive accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and  decision-making through expert management of accounting operations and financial management functions.

    Accounting Operations 

    • Reviewing financial statements and general ledger entries to ensure completeness, accuracy and adherence to accounting standards. 
    • Posting monthly journal entries and intercompany transactions 
    • Making payments to suppliers 
    • Review the debtor balances and lead the collection process. 
    • Prepare bank reconciliations   
    • Filing tax returns 
    • Investigating and resolving KRA queries 
    • Ensure timely day to day operations of the accounts’ functions. 
    • Liaising with ERP system team - Accounts configurations, process flows, suggest and implement improvements to system processes where applicable 

    Financial Management and Reporting 

    • Create Monthly and quarterly budgets for the Group. 
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements; income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.  
    • Prepare consolidated accounts of the group. 
    • Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and provide financial analysis to support decision-making on cost saving and revenue enhancement. 
    • Responding to management queries on matters Finance of the Group and individual companies. 
    • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices. 
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies and relevant regulations like IFRS, Kenya tax laws, etc. 

    Compliance and Audit 

    • Quarterly and Annual internal audit reviews.  
    • Liaising and facilitating auditors during the review period. 
    • Preparing and sharing financial analysis – TB with comments. 
    • Investigating and resolving audit findings, discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance  
    • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements 
    • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and assess their impact on the organization 

    Strategic Planning and decision support 

    • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic planning, investment decisions, and business growth initiatives. 
    • Participate in financial forecasting, long-term financial planning, and risk management activities 
    • Evaluate financial performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities 

     Team Leadership and Management 

    • Create a positive work environment 
    • Collaborate with other subsidiaries so as to ensure smooth financial operations and accurate financial reporting. 

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is preferred.
    • A minimum of five years' experience in private or public accounting
    • Proven experience in project accounting and financial management, preferably within construction industry.
    • Proven experience in project management
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and project budgeting.
    • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient in financial accounting software
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
